In February and early March of this year, I spent three of the most hope-filled weeks of my life in Uganda. We saw significant changes taking place in Gulu and Kampala, and true cultural change was happening. I arrived back from Uganda on March 10th to an ever changing world.

This COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us in different ways, and our hearts go out to all of you that have lost jobs, a steady source of income and connection to your loved ones. We are doing our best as staff members and board members to address our own work in Uganda while...

Spending time in Uganda has a way of giving you new perspective about life. Internally it changes how you look at contentment, joy, and purpose; and externally it impacts how you look at almost everything, from your abundance of food and resources, and most certainly the public education system that is available through our tax dollars.

Today is a day that is so very hard to put into words. Typing an account almost seems like a disservice to the people that I was blessed to spend my day with, but I shall try nonetheless. In two weeks time I will have the joy and privilege of beginning yet another trip to Uganda. All of these trips are unique, as each team of volunteers is new, and the tasks before us are often changing. In the middle of June a lot of firsts will be happening when our team is in country, so keep an eye on our social media accounts t...

Time is not on our side!” That is a common phrase here in Uganda. Everything runs a little slow, and rarely, if ever, starts at the proper time, and so it seems we are always finding each and every day that time is not on our side. And as I write this blog at 1:15 am it appears as if this phrase is ringing true once again. The days spent here in Uganda tend to hold an abundance of time in some ways, and yet there never seems to be quite enough.

I just dropped off our Northern Uganda Girl Empowerment Team that I have served beside for the past n...

As I sit here in Gulu, Northern Uganda for one final evening, it is so very difficult to put this past week into perspective. Our team of volunteers from the US and Europe have shared a week with our staff and our partner schools that they will not soon forget. The struggles here in Uganda are real, but they are not insurmountable. The pain here in Uganda is real, but it is not beyond healing.

I know that for each of our volunteers there are a few names, a few faces, a few stories that will forever be their Uganda. What we are attempting to do as an...
